Veigar is a reliable control champion that excels at dismantling enemy boards through scaling damage. While he is very effective for newer accounts and in standard content, he currently struggles in the highest-difficulty weekly challenges due to a slow setup phase and a lack of area-of-effect tools. His high dependence on being on the board makes him vulnerable to removal, though he remains one of the most cohesive spell-based champions available at lower investment levels.
The Darkness Engine
Summons a copy of Veigar for free. This allows for two copies of Veigar on the board simultaneously, doubling the passive damage scaling of Darkness every round.
Doubles every cast of Darkness once the game reaches turn 5, allowing for massive burst damage against the enemy Nexus or board.
Provides a flat damage increase to every Darkness cast, which is particularly effective when spells are being duplicated.
Strategy
This build focuses on reaching turn 5 to activate Chemtech Duplicator. By using Frozen Tomb to cheat out a second Veigar, the deck scales Darkness damage rapidly. Once Chemtech Duplicator is active, the combination of multiple Veigars and spell copying results in an inevitable win through direct Nexus damage.
Aggressive Spellweaver
Reduces Veigar's cost based on Nexus damage dealt, allowing him to hit the board earlier to begin his scaling process.- Essential for the late-game burst turn where Darkness becomes a finishing tool.
Protects Veigar from direct removal spells. Given his low stats, he is a priority target for the AI, and maintaining his presence is critical for scaling.

This build is designed for stacked accounts that need to deploy Veigar faster to combat aggressive AI. By utilizing plunder mechanics to reduce his cost, Veigar can start generating and scaling Darkness as early as the first few turns.

Reduces the cost of champion spells, making it easier to cast Darkness frequently without depleting mana.
A survival tool that ensures Veigar returns to the board if the opponent successfully uses removal on him.
A paid option that provides early healing through Nexus drain and facilitates an earlier summon for Veigar.
Black Shield is often prioritized in higher-difficulty adventures to ensure Veigar survives the turn he is played.
Constellation
Veigar's strength is primarily concentrated in his 2-star power, which transforms Darkness from a Slow spell into a Burst spell. This upgrade is fundamental to his viability, as it allows him to react to enemy threats instantly. He currently lacks a full constellation, making him a very cost-effective champion for players who want a strong control option without spending high-tier resources like Nova crystals.

Gameplay Tips
- Patience is Key
Veigar is not an aggressive champion. His strategy revolves around stalling the game and using Darkness to remove key threats while his damage scales. Avoid playing him into a board where the opponent has open mana and a likely removal spell.
- Managing the Darkness Limit
Remember that Darkness is a generated card. If you have a full hand, you will fail to create a new Darkness at the start of the round. Always ensure you have at least one slot open in your hand to avoid losing out on your primary scaling tool.
- Passing for Value
Against aggressive AI, it is often beneficial to pass priority. Forcing the AI to commit units into your mana allows you to use Darkness at Burst speed to pick them off, or lets the AI waste spells before you commit Veigar to the board.
- Avoid Anti-Synergy Powers
Be cautious when selecting powers like 'Psychological Warfare' (which converts spell damage to Gloom). Because Veigar's level-up condition specifically requires dealing damage with Darkness, converting that damage to Gloom will prevent him from ever leveling up, effectively bricking his kit.
- Nexus Targeting
Once Darkness damage has scaled significantly—usually above 10 damage—and you have Chemtech Duplicator active, transition your focus from board control to the enemy Nexus. Two or three doubled casts are usually enough to end any encounter.
